Whitinsville Boy Scout Leader Faces Enticement, Child Porn Charges
WHITINSVILLE (CBS) - A Whitinsville lawyer, who is also a Boy Scout leader and substitute middle school teacher, is facing child porn charges. Andrew Myers, 34, is charged with having child porn and using the Internet to entice children.
He was arrested Tuesday morning at his home in Whitinsville. The investigation was sparked by a Colorado mother who told authorities that her 12-year-old son had been communicating with a male who tried to get the boy to engage in sex acts over Skype, a web video service.
Police say that Myers is alleged to have had similar contact with at least three other boys.
Myers is also a former member of the Northbridge School Committee.
If convicted, he faces not less than 10 years and up to life in prison on the enticement charge and up to 10 years on the possession of child pornography charge. Both charges carry five years to a lifetime of supervised release.
