Whitey Bulger's Lawyer To Give Update On Evidence
BOSTON (AP) — Lawyers for mobster James "Whitey" Bulger are due in court to give a judge a status update on evidence turned over by prosecutors in preparation for his trial in November.
Bulger's lawyers complained for months that federal prosecutors had given them a large volume of disorganized evidence. But last month, Bulger's lawyers said they were having ongoing discussions with prosecutors about the organization of the evidence and that the process was going well.
Both sides are due back in court Tuesday for another status conference.
Bulger, the former leader of the Winter Hill Gang, is charged with participating in 19 murders. He was apprehended in Santa Monica, Calif., last year after 16 years on the run.
Bulger's trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 5. He has pleaded not guilty.
