Weymouth High Student Has Mumps Infection, Officials Say
WEYMOUTH (CBS) -- A Weymouth High School student has come down with a case of the mumps infection, officials say.
In a statement released late Thursday night, Weymouth Public Schools Superintendent Kenneth Salim says the city's Health Department and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed the case.
He adds that the school's health services team is working closely with both agencies to continue to monitor the situation and take any necessary steps.
A health advisory was sent out to high school families to let them know about the situation and inform them about mumps' symptoms and precautions that can be taken.
There have been no other reports of students or staff at the school infected with mumps.
No additional information was immediately available.
