Western Mass. To Get Better Broadband Service

SPRINGFIELD (CBS) -- Plans to bring broadband internet access to western Massachusetts are being unveiled Monday.

An announcement is expected in Springfield about a major milestone in broadband infrastructure investments in the city.

The aim of the project, known as "MassBroadband 123," is to build a high-speed, fiber-optic internet backbone network covering more than 1,300 miles and connecting more than 120 communities in western and north-central Massachusetts.
