West Point Cadet, Apparently On Phone During Graduation March, Sparks Outrage
WEST POINT, N.Y. (CBS) – Graduation is a time for celebration, but one scene from the United States Military Academy over the weekend has many upset.
A video posted on Facebook by the West Point school shows cadets on a morning march after completing their 47-month program. But viewers picked up on at least one member of the Class of 2016 who seemed out of line – a female cadet who appears to be looking down at her phone.
The graduate in question (seen at about 50 seconds into the video) is being slammed on social media.
"As a veteran I'm embarrassed to see the new military standards," comments Sean Webster on Facebook.
"Texting on a cell phone?? Unless that was about a credible threat to the U S security PUT IT DOWN!" wrote Mary Ellen Fosso.
The video has been viewed more than half a million times and received over 700 comments.
