Wes Welker Undergoes Hair Restoration Procedure
BOSTON (CBS) -- Look out, Tom Brady. Wes Welker's coming for you and your stylish 'do.
The Patriots' quarterback is usually the one who makes headlines for his hair, but it's Welker who is stepping his hair game up. The 31-year-old receiver underwent a hair restoration procedure with Dr. Robert Leonard in early July, and he'll soon be appearing in TV, radio and print advertisements for the hair restoration doctor.
A news release said that Welker's "procedure involved transplanting follicles to an area of Welker's scalp where his hair had started to thin" and lasted about five hours.
If Welker had to pay for his procedure, he likely tapped in to his $9.5 million salary for the upcoming season. Last year, Welker caught 122 passes (one shy of his career high) for 1,569 yards and nine touchdowns (both career highs). He and the Patriots were unable to reach an agreement on a long-term deal before last week's deadline, so he'll work this season on the one-year deal with the franchise tag.
And he'll do it with some snazzy looking hair.
