Welker Practices For Broncos On Thursday
BOSTON (CBS) - After missing Wednesday's practice session, Wes Welker was back on the field for the Denver Broncos on Thursday as they prepare for this weekend's trip to New England.
Welker suffered a concussion on Sunday in Denver's win over the Kansas City Chiefs, so even after passing a baseline cognitive exam on Monday he had to sit out practice on Wednesday and could only participate in a limited basis on Thursday.
His participation on Thursday puts him on track to play against his former team on Sunday.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who completed over 550 passes to Welker during his six seasons in New England, had an inkling that his former go-to guy would be good-to-go earlier this week.

"He's a tough guy so he's played through everything," the Pats' QB said on Wednesday. "This is a big game for both teams so you have to expect their best players and I'm sure all those guys will be ready to go."
New England safety Devin McCourty is planning on chasing after Welker quite a bit come Sunday night.
"We're preparing, we know he's probably going to be out there," McCourty said on Thursday. "He doesn't miss many games, we know that from playing with him, and we expect to see him on Sunday."

Welker has been a force in his first season in Denver after signing a two-year contract over the summer. In 10 games for the 9-1 Broncos, Welker is sixth in the NFL with 61 catches and tied for fourth with nine touchdowns.
