Welker Doesn't Practice; Status Uncertain For Final Preseason Game

FOXBORO (CBS) - Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker says he feels okay after making a tackle and suffering a neck injury on Saturday night. When asked whether he thinks he's going to play on Thursday in the preseason finale, Wes was not sure.

"We'll see what the doctors and trainers and everybody else says, whatever they say is what's going to happen," said Welker. "I'm just working hard and trying to get back out there."

Welker did talk to the media on Tuesday but he did not take part in the practice. He says a neck injury is a serious thing and he wants to take this one slow.

"I think anything that has to do with that part of your body, it's always scary," said Welker, who was able to move his head in all directions while addressing reporters. "But we have good doctors, good trainers, so I wasn't too worried about it.

"I don't really recall [if he lost feeling], I just remember making sure everything was alright, and the doctors checking me out. Now I'm just trying to get ready for the next game."

Other Patriots Return

Brandon Spikes, Mike Wright and Dane Fletcher made their returns to practice of Tuesday.  All three were out there on the field and running with the team.   Hopefully they all will see some time in Thursday night's game against the Giants and maybe that can get them ready for the regular season.
Wes Welker was not at practice, neither was Guard Dan Connolly.  Connolly hurt his ankle in Saturday night's game.  Taylor Price, Stevan Ridley and Leigh Bodden also remain out of action.
