Wedding Videographer Ordered To Pay $500K For Scamming Newlyweds
BOSTON (AP) — The owner of a wedding videography company has been ordered to pay more than $500,000 in restitution, penalties and fees for scamming about 150 newlywed couples.
Prosecutors say Jesse Clark of Charlton, operater of SureShot Portraits LLC, failed to provide the wedding footage he had been paid up to $2,000 for, and refused to refund money.
A Suffolk Superior Court judge entered a default judgment against Clark on Tuesday.
Clark operated the business from a Millbury storefront as well as through several websites. Authorities say he changed the business name and used aliases in an effort to avoid responsibility.
Prosecutors say he always had excuses for failing to deliver, and in some cases held video hostage until customers removed negative online reviews.
A working number for Clark could not be found.
