Webb Simpson Rallies To Win Deutsche Bank
NORTON, Mass. (AP) -- Webb Simpson made three big putts, the last one giving him an unlikely win Monday in the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Simpson looked as if he would have to settle for a runner-up finish at the TPC Boston when he knocked in a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, and got into a sudden-death playoff when Chez Reavie made bogey on the par-5 closing hole.
On the 18th in the playoff, Simpson knocked in a 15-foot birdie after Reavie chipped close for a tap-in birdie. They went to the 17th hole, where Simpson completed his amazing finish by rolling in an 8-foot birdie putt to move to the top of the FedEx Cup standings.
Simpson closed with a 65 and wound up with his second win in three weeks.
