We All Need a Little Sun...

It seemed like everyone was in a funk today and it probably had everything to do with the rain...after all there was a lot.  Amounts exceed 5" on the Upper Cape in Falmouth and Sandwich and well over 4" on Martha's Vineyard.  Much of that rain fell in about 6 hours...too much for storm drains to handle or the ground to absorb...flooding was and in some places still is a huge problem in those locals with roads impassable and in some places completely washed out.  The steady rain has become more showery but it still contains downpours and some convective elements capable of heavy rain and perhaps a few additional lightning strikes.  The threat for these showers will be with us until the upper level showrtwave passes...not until around midnight.  Even though drier air will start working in, I don't expect a whole lot of mixing to scour out the low level moisture and therefore clouds and fog will remain through early tomorrow morning.  But don't fret...the sun will be out by mid-morning and while some diurnal cumulus will develop the sun will remain dominant through the remainder of the day with highs eclipsing 60.  Tomorrow evening, a weak surface front will slip through from the north...a dry frontal passage but an usher to colder air for Friday and the start of the weekend...during that timeframe the sky will be basically clear.

Now to the weekend, another storm on the way, that's the bad news...the good news, most of the rain will fall Saturday night and depart Sunday morning.  Once again some heavy rain could fall but we will salvage the second half of Sunday.
