Watch Isaiah Thomas Block Chris Paul
BOSTON (CBS) -- Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas continues his offensive tear, but the little man is also proving that he has some ups on the defensive end.
Thomas showed off his defensive prowess early in Monday night's 114-90 loss to the Clippers, blocking Los Angeles guard Chris Paul from behind on what should have been an easy layup. Thomas turned the ball over on the Celtics' end of the floor, but gave chase after Paul and delivered a block that would make LeBron James or Tayshaun Prince proud (or at least as proud as they could be for a block occurring in a regular season blowout).
Boston's 5-foot-9 guard made highlight reels for his defense back in February when he "rejected" Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (watch here, but beware of some salty language). Monday night's swat was much more impressive though, given Thomas didn't get an assist from the rim -- or Boogie's bobble -- this time around.
Paul shrugged it off though, finishing with 13 points and 14 assists in L.A.'s blowout win.
Thomas's seven swats this season are one off of his career-high, which he accomplished twice: as a rookie in the 2011-12 season and again in 2013-14 -- both with the Sacramento Kings.
And as for his offense, that is never in question with Thomas. He scored a team-high 24 points in Boston's loss, tying Larry Bird's single-season record with his 13th straight game as the C's leading scorer.
