BOSTON (CBS) - There certainly can be wide swings in temperature this time of the year.

Many folks have been waiting for a warm up since last fall.

We never had anything resembling a winter thaw and really haven't been able to put together a string of unseasonably warm days this spring yet either.

This is all about to change - and just in time for the weekend!

Watch Melissa Mack's forecast:

Temperatures will warm to an average of about 60 degrees on Saturday and on Sunday temperatures should easily topple 60 degrees and in some inland locations could approach 70! We have only had one 70 degree day since last October, that was last month, on March 18th when we hit exactly 70 degrees.

If we don't get there on Sunday we will certainly do it on Monday.

Highs on Monday should soar well into the 70's, and there is a decent chance that we will be near the record high of 78 degrees set way back in 1955!

80 degrees is not unreachable on Monday, should we do that, it would be the first 80 degree day since October 1st.
