Waltham Landscaper Arrested For Violating Leaf Blowing By-Laws
Waltham landscaper Marvin Astillo was approached by an officer on Saturday, September 14 for using his leaf blower before 9 a.m.
The town's laws prohibit leaf blowing on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from May 15 to Sept. 15. Saturday was also a Jewish holiday.
Astillo was asked to stop and provide identification, but he refused to take the citation and walked away.
The police offer then proceeded to handcuff Astillo and take him to the station.
The four other landscapers on the scene cooperated with the officer and were given citations for their infractions to the town's bylaws.
Astillo was charged with violating town bylaws and refusing to give his name to police. Charges against Astillo were dropped just prior to arraignment.
