Hannaford Worker Pinned By Car In Waltham Parking Lot

WALTHAM (CBS) – A Hannaford employee was hospitalized with minor injuries after being hit in the supermarket parking lot in Waltham.

The crash was reported after 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

A witness said the driver accelerated while backing up and pinned a store employee while also hitting another person, a shopping cart corral and five parked cars.

Waltham Police confirmed that the store worker in his 20s or 30s was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Six cars were involved in the incident.

"He got hit by her vehicle and dragged for I don't know how long, he didn't really say," said Deputy Chief Roger Hebert. "He was conscious and alert, complained of a little pain but no visible broken bones or anything like that."

The driver who caused the crash was hospitalized.

The bumper of one car involved in the crash was dangling from the vehicle.

"We heard screams of shock, gasps and everything," one witness told WBZ-TV.

Police, firefighters and EMTs were on scene following the incident.

Investigators will work to determine whether mechanical or operator error caused the crash.
