Walsh To Meet With Boston Library Officials Over Missing Art
BOSTON (CBS) -- There's still no sign of two missing rare pieces of art from the Boston Public Library, and Mayor Marty Walsh wants answers.
Walsh will meet Tuesday with Library President Amy Ryan and Board of Trustees Chairman Jeffrey Rudman.
"The first thing I want to know is, how does over $600,000 of valuables go missing or be stolen?" the mayor said.
The mayor said he'll also ask what's in place to prevent something like this from happening in the future.
The library placed special collections keeper Susan Glover on paid administrative leave on April 20. Boston police have said they're looking at several library employees as they determine whether the disappearance was "an inside job."
The missing pieces are a 1504 Durer "Adam and Eve" engraving worth about $600,000, and a 1634 Rembrandt self-portrait valued between $20,000 and $30,000.
