2 Men Escape Through Window After Pickup Truck Plunges Into Icy Walpole Pond

"The truck was completely submerged. When officers arrived, the occupants, two occupants had already gotten themselves out. And it quickly became apparent that they were hypothermic," said Police Sgt. Jim O'Connell.

The men were taken to the hospital.

"They did get out through a window, but the truck did go all the way down," he added.

The two men told WBZ-TV they are OK and that they lost control because the road was very slippery.

Those that live nearby said the road can be dangerous. "People are obviously coming down this road way, way too fast. I came home last night at about 10 o'clock and it was treacherous," Gerry Criscenzo said.

Another neighbor said this is not the first crash in the area. "A couple of weeks ago, there was a car that slammed into one of the electric wires over there, we actually lost power," said Miguel Zialcita.
