Vigil Planned For Anniversary Of Wayland Teen Murder
WAYLAND (CBS) - A candlelight vigil will be held Tuesday evening to mark the one-year anniversary of the murder of a popular Wayland teenager.
Prosecutors say Nathanial Fujita, now 19, killed his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Lauren Astley, and left her body in a marsh in July 2011.
Both had just graduated from Wayland High School.
Fujita has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and assault charges.
The vigil will be held at First Parish church at 7 p.m.
Lauren's father told the MetroWest Daily News that it's a chance for people to come together at a "time of pain."
Fujita is due back in court next month.
