Video Roundup: Hurricane Arthur Hits Southern New England
BOSTON (CBS) – A rare early July hurricane, Hurricane Arthur, whirled toward Southern New England Friday bringing heavy rains with totals in some parts of the region to reach 8 to 10 inches.

The Category 1 hurricane had lost some of its punch after hitting North Carolina as a Category 2, but its biggest impact came not from winds but the heavy rain.

New Bedford, Fairhaven and other parts of the South Coast absorbed particularly heavy downpours, seeing 8 inches of rain between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday.
