Astley's best friend Hannah Blahut told the court she saw Fujita get so angry he punched a metal party tent pole during an argument months before the July 2011 murder.
Blahut also told jurors about an incident at a graduation party just weeks before Astley was killed.
Blahut said Astley had confided that she didn't want to date Fujita anymore because their relationship had changed during their senior year at Wayland High School.
Fujita admits he killed his high school sweetheart, but his attorneys are arguing he was insane at the time.
