Vice President Mike Pence Files President Trump's Papers For New Hampshire Primary
CONCORD, N.H. (CBS/AP) — Vice President Mike Pence stood in for President Donald Trump Thursday to get his boss' name on the Republican primary ballot in New Hampshire.
Four years ago, Trump was among the first candidates to sign up for the primary, which he won before losing the state to Democrat Hillary Clinton in the general election.
But candidates are not required to file in person, and this time Trump sent Pence to file his paperwork and pay the $1,000 fee at the secretary of state's office late Thursday morning.
While some states are canceling their GOP primaries, Trump is expected to face at least three challengers in New Hampshire: former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford and former Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh.
