Veterans Day Events In Eastern Massachusetts
BOSTON (CBS/AP) - Cities and towns across Massachusetts will be honoring those who served our country this Veterans Day.
Several parades are scheduled.
- Malden's begins at 9 a.m. on Pearl Street.
- The Natick parade starts downtown at 9:30 a.m.
- The parade in Plymouth also begins at 9:30 a.m. on Hedge Road.
- The Arlington parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. on Massachusetts Avenue.
- Boston's Veterans Day parade will begin on Boston Common at 1 p.m. and finish at City Hall Plaza.
Governor Deval Patrick will be one of several state officials who will honor service members and their families at the State House at 10 a.m.
The Red Sox will honor veterans and active military members with free tours of Fenway Park.
The tours will start at the top of every hour beginning at 10 a.m. The last hour-long tour is at 5 p.m.
Veterans and active military members will be asked to show their military identifications for free tour tickets, which will be available at the Gate D ticket booth at the corner of Yawkey Way and Van Ness Street.
Some of the Boston Bruins players have bought more than $10,000 worth of tickets to Monday's 1 p.m. game against Tampa Bay at the TD Garden and have given them to local military members.
U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy, veterans and their relatives will discuss the topic "Challenges and Hope: What's Facing Returning Veterans and Military Families," during a free public forum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in the Dorchester from 2 to 5 p.m.
