Veterans Day Events Planned Around The Region
BOSTON (CBS) – Ceremonies are planned around the region Friday in honor of Veterans Day.
A Veterans Day parade is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the Back Bay, while the Department of Veterans' Services also has plans to hold a ceremony at the State House beginning at 10 a.m.

Attorney General Maura Healey will be among those at the Friday morning ceremony, which will take place on the second floor of the State House. The ceremony will honor veterans and military families.
Congressman Seth Moulton is hosting a Veterans Day Town Hall at his Marblehead office.
Last year Moulton began the now annual event, which drew more than 150 veterans and non-veterans alike.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh will participate in "Operation Thank a Vet."
During the event, 200 volunteers will walk around the city knocking on veterans' doors to say thank you for serving, presenting them with a City of Boston challenge coin and providing information on what services are available to them.
"The first year we did it a Vietnam Vet came to the door. One of the volunteers knocked on the door, said 'Thank you for your service,' handed him a challenge coin and he started to cry," Walsh told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "He said 'I've never been thanked for my service.'"
In Boston's Seaport District, Massachusetts Fallen Heroes will host a ceremony beginning Friday at 2 p.m. to honor those currently serving in the military and those who died in action.
During the ceremony, six wreaths will be laid to represent each branch of the military.
