Vandals Slash Tires Of 39 Cars In Rockland
ROCKLAND (CBS) - An entire neighborhood appears to have been victimized by vandals, after dozens of residents woke up on Saturday to find their cars' tires slashed.
Justin Bodio was just one of 39 victims on Union St. in downtown Rockland. When he left the house, three of his tires were flat.
"I came out to get in my car and go to work, and realized that the floorboard was on the ground, both these tires were slashed, as well as my third tire in the back," Bodio said.
The motive is still a mystery, and Rockland police are actively investigating the incident.
Unfortunately, that won't help victims get things rolling again. For some, the cost of replacing tires is simply too much.
"It comes out of our pocket," said Sherry Jacobs, another victim. "I don't have the money to get a new tire right now. I'm on a fixed income. I'm stranded until we can afford a tire, and we can't afford it right now."
