Rain, Snow Coming In Round 2
BOSTON (CBS) - This sure is getting old isn't it? Another snowy morning commute and an additional 6-to-12 inches added on to the already whopping season snow totals.

The good news: we can just about put this snowstorm in the books…
The not-so-good news: There will be one final burst of rain and snow and it is coming in fast and it will be briefly heavy…

This final burst will only last about 2 to 4 hours, between 2 and 6 p.m. and then it will abruptly shut off in Southern New England. However, it will be rather intense for a short period of time, dropping up to a half an inch of rain in some areas and several inches of snow in others.
Here is a region-by-region breakdown of what to expect this afternoon:
South Coast, South Shore, Cape Cod & Islands: Most of this final burst goes north of this region, so just a few sprinkles or rain showers and that's about it. Your storm is just about over.
Boston, Metro West, nearby suburbs: You will get a few hours of rain, some heavy downpours, causing some big puddles on the roadways, but again, it will shut off pretty quickly, ending during the PM commute.
Northern Belt of 495 from Lawrence to Lowell to Marlboro: Likely a rain/snow mix with this final burst, perhaps a coating to an inch of snow in some higher elevated towns, but most of what will fall will either be liquid or melt on impact.
North and West of 495, including Southern New Hampshire and the Worcester Hills: This final burst will be all snow for you and it may accumulate 1-3," it will be heavy and wet and most likely melt on the treated roadways. Again, best chance for accumulation greater than an inch would be in higher elevations.
Central N.H., Maine: The "jackpot" from this last shot of precipitation will occur here…3-6" of additional snowfall will push the final total snow over a foot in many areas. Ski areas are loving it…
