Unsettled...

I haven't been that happy about rain in a long time...especially on a weekend too nonetheless.  That was the solid soaking we needed with most of the area picking up between 2 and 4 inches.  The mature cyclone is still spinning in the Northeast...the heavy rain bands have shifted into Maine and the Maritimes but the heavy snow continues to fall in Western NY and PA.  This storm will now begin to fill in and weaken as the contrasts in airmasses mix and unite.  This will mean we stay slightly unsettled over the next few days.  Sunny intervals will close up with extensive cumulus and some clouds will gain some height and release a short-lived shower.  The most common times for this to occur would be later in the days taking advantage of maximum daytime surface heating.

Late in the week and more so over the weekend, a strong baroclinic zone (change in temperature over short distance, storms like to travel on) will set-up to our south.  The ultimate resting place is still in flux but it does appear we will stay on the cooler side of things and if that zone creeps close enough wet weather could be a player again next weekend.
