UMass-Lowell Lands 1-Seed, BC A 2-Seed For NCAA Hockey Tournament
BOSTON (CBS) - NCAA Basketball isn't the only tournament in town.
The NCAA Hockey Tournament gets underway later this week, with a pair of Massachusetts schools looking to make some noise.
Hockey East champions UMass-Lowell (26-10-2 and the third-seed overall in the tourney) was named the number-one seed in the Northeast region, with defending champion Boston College (22-11-4) a number-two seed in the East region.

Up first for UMass-Lowell, who defeated Boston University over the weekend for their first-ever Hockey East title, is Wisconsin (22-12-7) in Manchester, NH on Friday. Should the River Hawks advance, they would face the winner of Denver (20-13-5) vs. New Hampshire (19-11-7).
UMass-Lowell heads into the tournament riding a six-game win streak.
It will be a tough road for UMass-Lowell throughout the tournament, as they find themselves in the same bracket as perennial powerhouses Denver (20-13-5), North Dakota (21-12-7) and second-overall seed Minnesota(26-8-5).

The BC Eagles will look to become the first repeat champion since Denver won back-to-back titles in 2004-05. They open play Saturday night against three-seeded Union (21-12-5), and would play the winner of Quinnipiac (the number-one overall seed, 27-7-5) vs. Sanisius (19-18-5).
The Frozen Four will be held at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA on April 11, with the Championship game Saturday, April 13.
