UMass' Charley Molnar Has Minutemen Gearing Up For Season Finale Against Central Michigan
BOSTON (CBS) -- It's certainly been a trying season for the UMass Minutemen in their first season in the FBS, but head coach Charley Molnar has his team focused on the only task left: beating Central Michigan.
UMass will host Central Michigan on Friday afternoon in the season finale, looking to get the Minutemen their second win of the year. While the Minutemen are coming off a 29-19 loss to Buffalo, Molnar said the short week of preparation can help his team.
"In some ways it's really an advantage, you know why? Because when we had our team meeting, we couldn't spend too much time dwelling on Buffalo," Molnar told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Marc Bertrand. "We had to move forward and get ready for Central Michigan, which is a very formidable opponent. So if we sat there and just beat up the Buffalo game for two hours, that wouldn't have been good for our guys."
The Chippewas present offensive "threats across the board," according to Molnar, including senior Cody Wilson. Molnar said that Wilson reminds him of Wes Welker.
"He's got great hands and he's got tremendous quickness," Molnar said. "He goes after the ball and makes every catch that's even near him."
