Police: 3 Men Charged In UMass-Amherst Dormitory Burglary
AMHERST (AP) — Two students and a third man have been charged with breaking into a University of Massachusetts Amherst dorm room over the weekend.
The Republican of Springfield reports that 20-year-old Garrett Johnston, of Belle Mead, New Jersey, 19-year-old Damien Earp and 18-year-old Kyle Morrill, both of Lynn, were arrested Sunday and charged with armed burglary, larceny and assault or battery on a police officer. Morrill is not a student.
Police say three masked men tried to break into rooms in Washington Hall around 4:45 a.m. Sunday. University officials say two students armed with knives were arrested as they tried to escape. A third suspect was arrested later that night.
They are scheduled to be arraigned Monday. It's unclear if the suspects have attorneys.
