U.S. Begins To Restrict Flights From West Africa

BOSTON (CBS) - Fatima Correia and her husband Victor are picking up friends at Logan Airport, but fears over Ebola have this couple from Portugal grounded.

Fatima Correia says, "I'm afraid to travel now, because planes goes all over the place."

But now, traveling into the U.S., just got more difficult. Something they hope will help calm fears, for all the travel headaches it will cause.

Victor says, "It's going to be very difficult for those people who are coming to Boston, that means they have to go to other airports. What about families waiting for them? It's not going to be easy for them."

Difficult or not, the Centers for Disease Control and Homeland Security have issued tough new travel restrictions. Only allowing travelers from the Ebola affected nations of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone into five U.S. airports. Logan is not on the list.

Now, only JFK, Washington-Dulles, Newark, Chicago's O'Hare and Atlanta will be accepting those travelers. And there will be enhanced screening starting this weekend.

Just in time says Robin Penzone who just arrived from Florida. The woman who was sitting next to her was not taking any chances. Robin says, "She didn't want me to touch anything she had wipes, it gets crazy sometimes."

Logan Airport says even though there are no direct flights from West Africa, they will remain vigilant and use an isolation room if needed with sick passengers.
