Ty Law, Mike Lowell Happy To Be Back In Boston For "The Tradition"
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston sports legends Ty Law and Mike Lowell are happy to be back in Boston for the 10th annual "The Tradition" at the TD Garden.
Both players are among six who will be honored at Tuesday night's event.
A former Pats cornerback drafted back in 1995, Law went to four Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowl rings in Foxboro. He said it's "always good to be back" in the New England area.
"(Memories of New England are) the best memories I ever had playing. To be apart of a group of guys that was able to come together to accomplish a goal, and we accomplished it three times. We came up short a fourth, but I know so many guys that have...played as long or longer than I have and never got a chance to hold up the Lombardi Trophy, so what we did here was pretty special," said Law.

Lowell, meanwhile, joined the Red Sox before the 2006 season in a blockbuster trade that brought Josh Beckett to the Red Sox and sent mega-prospect Hanley Ramirez to the Marlins. He said he "felt so welcome here from Day 1."
"It seemed to be an appreciation for me because I was coming from a team where we were pretty good for a few years and we never had that fan base to support us – and you come here to Boston and it's a totally different environment, and one that I think players feed off. Coming to play in front of a packed park every night helps you out," said Lowell.
The former Sox third baseman and 2007 World Series MVP retired after last season. He commented on how exciting it has been in the Boston sports scene the last 10 years, in which all four teams won at least one title.
"It says this is a fantastic time to be a Boston sports fan. From a player's standpoint, I think you appreciate what it takes to win a championship, and it's not always the most talented team, it's not always who has the highest payroll, it's that team that really pulls all the pieces together," said Lowell.
