Two Men Arrested In Stoneham Double Shooting
STONEHAM (CBS) -- Two men were arrested Sunday on murder charges in connection with a Stoneham double shooting that killed one man and injured another, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Stoneham Police Chief James McIntyre said in a prepared statement.
Jessie Williams, 24, of Medford, and Eugene Tate, 19, of Malden, were arrested Sunday and charged with murder, armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, and illegal possession of a firearm.
Williams and Tate face arraignment Monday in Woburn District Court.
According to authorities, at about 12:19 a.m. on Wednesday, Stoneham Police were dispatched to a home at 6 Micah's Pond Way in Stoneham for a report of gunshots.
When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of those men, Joseph Puopolo, 27, was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and wrist. He was taken to Leahy Clinic, where he was pronounced deceased. The second victim, a 28-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
An investigation by Stoneham Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the DA's office revealed that the 28-year-old victim arranged to sell drugs to Williams and Tate through known associates. It is alleged that prior to arrival of the pair, the 28-year-old victim asked Puopolo to come to the home because he was concerned the proposed deal may be a drug rip-off.
It is alleged that Williams and Tate entered the home shortly after midnight to complete a drug deal. When they entered the home, the two defendants allegedly drew handguns, demanded drugs and money, then shot Puopolo and the 28-year-old victim, Ryan and McIntyre said.
