Taunton police say the car slammed into a tree after having crossed over the wrong side of the road. Police believe the people, ages 18-24 had gone to a club in Rhode Island, couldn't get in and were headed back to Taunton.

Police say speed was a factor as the car slammed into a tree along Bay Street.

Police say the front passenger Eden Macedo, 18, and rear driver's side passenger Jason Neto, 18, were taken to Morton Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police have identified the driver as Nick Costa, 24, of Taunton. The other passengers are identified as: Ashley Rivera, 18, Jose Rodriguez, 21, Chelsea Crancha, 18, all of Taunton.

None of the people in the car were wearing seat belts, police said. The car belonged to the father of Macedo.

Taunton Police recovered a bottle of raspberry-flavored vodka on the front passenger side floor. Some of that vodka had been consumed, police said.

Police are currently investigating the accident and say vehicular homicide charges may be forthcoming.

The driver and three other victims are in Rhode Island Hospital.
