Two charged in Boston teen's slaying in court
Two men facing charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old honors student in Boston were to face a judge in Boston Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Timothy Hearns of Boston and Ramon Silvelo-Miles of Lynn were to appear in Suffolk Superior Court.
Hearns allegedly shot eighth-grader Jaewon Martin on a basketball court in the city's Jamaica Plain neighborhood in May. Another teen was shot but survived. Silvelo-Miles allegedly drove the getaway vehicle. Both are facing murder charges.
Authorities say the suspects were targeting members of a rival gang, but the victims were not gang members.
Hearns' lawyer has previously said that prosecutors presented no evidence against his client. Silvelo-Miles' family have said he's innocent.
