Tuukka Rask Will Miss 4-6 Weeks

BOSTON (CBS) -- The long-awaited news on Tuukka Rask is in, and the backup goaltender will be sidelined 4-6 weeks.

Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli says Rask sustained a lower abdomen strain/groin strain.

Rask suffered the injury Saturday afternoon against the Islanders, when a shot changed direction on its way toward the net, forcing him to shift his body weight. He awkwardly ended up in a split putting pressure on the area.

Rask, who turns 25 this upcoming Saturday, has 22 starts this season and 32 appearances overall, posting an 11-8-3 record, 2.05 goals-against average and .929 save percentage (both rank fifth in the NHL).

The Bruins currently have Michael Hutchinson backing up Tim Thomas, though Anton Khubodin is expected to assume that role once he is ready to return from a wrist injury. Also, the Bruins announced Monday night that they had signed veteran goaltender Marty Turco to a one-year deal.
