Tuukka Rask To Miss Bruins' Game Wednesday In Buffalo
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Bruins will hit the ice on Wednesday night for their first post-Olympics contest, but they'll be doing so without netminder and bronze medal winner Tuukka Rask.
Rask, who missed Finland's semifinal game against Sweden before returning to shut out the U.S. in the bronze medal game, will not travel with the team to Buffalo on Wednesday. Chad Johnson will get the start, with Niklas Svedberg serving as the backup.
"[Rask] is going to start his workouts tomorrow, maybe off ice, and then Thursday on the ice with us," said head coach Claude Julien, a proud owner of a gold medal for his work on Team Canada's coaching staff.
Patrice Bergeron and Loui Eriksson, who played against each other in the gold medal game, will travel with the team and suit up on Wednesday.
Defenseman Adam McQuaid, who missed nine games prior to the Olympic break with a leg injury, is likely to miss Wednesday's game as well, as he gets closer to a full recovery.
Rask has started 43 games for the Bruins this year, posting a 2.11 goals-against average and .928 save percentage, while Johnson has made 13 starts and 17 total appearances, posting a 2.13 GAA and .924 save percentage.
