Tropical Storm Irene Knocks Tree Through Framingham Home

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) - A Framingham couple couldn't escape the fury of Tropical Storm Irene, even in the comfort of their own home.

Michael and Nancy Sweeney were home when the high winds forced a willow tree through the attic of their home on Brooke Street Sunday morning.

"(He) looked out the window and he said, 'Yeah guys, I think it's going to come down this time,'" said Nancy. "The noise was unbelievable."

WBZ-TV's Paul Burton reports.

The Sweeney's said they weren't sure what do do next.

"We ran around like mice in a maze and we ran for the door. We didn't know whether to go into the basement, the door, we have a dog. So, we just ran to the door and we ran outside. The neighbors all came over to see if we were OK," said Nancy.

Michael later took time to assess the damage to his home.

"The tree is actually in the attic, (which is) getting a lot of water. It's coming down into the back bedroom right into the basement. It's flowing pretty good," said Michael.

No one was hurt.
