Tropical Storm Irene Beaches Several Boats In Swampscott
SWAMPSCOTT (CBS) - At least a dozen boats in the Atlantic Ocean were ripped from their moorings off Swampscott on Sunday during the height of Tropical Storm Irene.
Seven of the boats were left stranded on Kings Beach.
"It's pretty ridiculous that they would even leave their boats in the water, I think, and I have a boat myself and it came out of the water and is parked at the house now. I don't really understand why they would have taken the chance," said one man who arrived to see the boats lined up on the shore.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports.

Swampscott resident Bob Dobias spotted at least eight boats in his area that lost their moorings.
Dobias spoke live during WBZ-TV's coverage:
"We've lived here probably the last eight years. (The storm) was a pretty good size, comparatively," said Dobias.
