Prosecutors say Kristen LaBrie of Salem repeatedly failed to fill prescriptions for her autistic son.
The 9-year-old boy, Jeremy Fraser, died in 2009.
In 2006, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but prosecutors said doctors gave him an 85 percent to 90 percent chance of recovery.
He was given large doses of chemotherapy in the hospital and his cancer went into remission.
Prosecutors say LaBrie failed to pick up prescriptions for medications he was to be given at home.
In 2008, doctors discovered his cancer had returned as leukemia and was untreatable with chemotherapy.
LaBrie's lawyer says she suffered from "diminished capacity."
Her trial is scheduled to begin Monday in Lawrence Superior Court.
