1:05 p.m. - CASERIO ON LIGHT, CANNON
Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio spoke on , before the teams morning practice. He talked about how challenging things have been with regards to the new rules and getting players on this roster. He also mentioned that Albert Haynesworth passed his conditioning drill and he would be out there on the field and that turned out to be true. He are some of the other things he had to say.
Contract talks ongoing with Matt Light: "Matt's been a good player for us for a long time. I'd say there are discussions that are ongoing. I don't want to put a timetable on it, but Matt's made a lot of contributions to this team, he's been a good player, so we'll see what happens."
Managing the workload in the post-lockout environment: "Everybody is working hard. There are a lot of people that are putting in a lot of time and effort, on the coaching staff and on the personnel staff. There are a lot of people who have been involved and everybody is working toward the same goal. We're excited to be here, we're excited for the season, we're excited for the opportunities that are in front of us. At some point, we'll worry about catching up on sleep."
Marcus Cannon update: "I think he's still kind of going through his process. He looks great. He's done everything he's been asked to do to this point. I think we're all optimistic. I don't think we're going to rush into anything. I think we're going to kind of let that timetable run its course. He's here. He'll be here. I think there are a few more steps along the way that he'll have to take care of. Marcus has been great, he's doing great, he's in good spirits. We're optimistic. … The most important thing is for him to be healthy. Whenever we get to that point, when he's ready to go, then we'll begin working with him. It's good to have him here, it's good to have him around the team. He's moving in the right direction. Things look promising to this point, but I don't want to jump ahead too far."
9:25 a.m. - FAULK MAKES RETURN
The Pats announced Saturday that they have signed all purpose back Kevin Faulk and he will return for one more year. The 12-year veteran has spent his entire career with the Patriots. After the announcement, Kevin got a chance to address the media and this is some of what he had to say.
On his return: "Before the lockout started, Bill [Belichick] called me and told me, 'Look, Kevin, I want you on my team in 2011,' and that was motivation enough for me to go out and rehab my butt off and get ready for the season, whenever it may be and whenever it may come. So, that was pretty much enough for me."

On the Patriots drafting two running backs: "It didn't faze me or anything because that's what this team does; they build a championship team and whatever they have to do, that's what they're going to do. And I'm a competitor. That's why I play this game. I want to compete with the best in the NFL."
On how much he missed football: "A whole lot, very much so. Just being able to walk in the building on Wednesday, being able to walk in the building this morning and see some of the guys and them telling me how much they miss me, how good it is to see me in the building. It made me feel good as a football player and as a person."
