Traffic Snarled, Two Hurt In O'Neill Tunnel Crashes Involving 15 Cars
BOSTON (CBS) – Two separate crashes involving up to 15 cars at the entrance to the Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr. Tunnel snarled traffic for about three miles on Wednesday morning.
Massachusetts State Police said one crash on Interstate 93 North at around 8:30 a.m. involved 10 cars while a second crash involved four or five vehicles.
The location for both crashes was at the entrance to the Tip O'Neill Tunnel. Two lanes were temporarily closed as a result of the accidents but have since opened to traffic.
Two people were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with minor injuries.
Police said the cause of the initial crash is still under investigation.
