Tracking Waves On A Stalled Front...50/50 Weekend
Morning showers are shifting to the coast this morning. Showers are extending from the North Shore into CT along a stalling front which has pushed just south of Boston and will become hung up across SE MA during the afternoon. Severe weather is not likely in this unseasonably cool airmass, with cloudy damp conditions & light variable winds. Morning showers will begin to wind down during the late morning into the midday with still plenty of cloud through the lunch hour. Sunshine with dry air in Vermont will begin to push farther east during the afternoon behind this front which will allow for breaking and increasing sunshine for Northern and Western New England with temps warming to near 75-80. Where clouds will hold all day at the coast and eastern MA, temps will mostly remain in the Lwr-mid 70's.
The stalling front over SE MA will be a trigger for showers with a few embedded storms to ride along during the afternoon. Showers will contain briefly heavy downpours with the chance for some embedded thunder. Most showers will be confined for Boston points south to the South Shore and Bristol and Plymouth counties. By the end of the day, Cape Cod and the islands should get into the action with the chance a more showers and t'storms which could last into the evening hours.
Skies will be clearing inland behind the front tonight with dry air on the move. I think any showers in Eastern MA will be mostly over tonight. I expect a nice evening at Foxboro with partly cloudy skies for the Bruce Springsteen concert with temps falling into the 60's. A wave of low pressure will track up the east coast along this stalled front overnight and track well off the coast. This may provide a few at the coast overnight and a few early morning clouds for the Cape, but the rest of us will see a delightful Sunday with sun and clouds, low humidity and a cooling sea breeze for the coast with winds shifting to the NE.
Sunday's sunshine will be delivered by a weak high pressure system which will be quickly pulling away Monday. Another low will move through the mid-atlantic along this stalled boundary off the coast. This low will spread in clouds and eventually showers late Monday through Monday night. The Patriots-Eagles game has a bit of wet look right now, so some rain gear may be needed at this second pre- season game. Once this low pulls off the coast, clouds will try to break on Tuesday with the potential for lingering low clouds being stuck underneath and inversion. Otherwise by the midweek, we will finally get into some beautiful refreshing air for Wednesday to Friday with temps running about 78-85 degrees
