Tow Truck Drivers Rally In Support Of Injured Driver
BROCKTON (CBS) -- Tow truck drivers from throughout New England rallied at Brockton Fairgrounds Sunday in support of one of their own.
Jonathan Tetreault, 33, of Wareham, remains in critical condition after he was hit by a car last weekend while servicing a disabled vehicle on Route 495 in Middleboro.
"It's been really hard," Tetreault's aunt Linda Nauss told WBZ-TV. "John's fighting so we're fighting with him one day at a time."
There were two big reasons for the event: helping Tetreault with his medical bills, and trying to remind drivers about the Move Over Law requiring motorists to change lanes to accommodate emergency vehicles.
John Polcari of A1 Affordable Towing lost two of his workers when they were struck and killed by a drunk driver on I-495 in 2004. He says the law is all about common courtesy and he says drivers need to think.
The driver that struck Tetreault's rig is now facing charges that include failure to move over for an emergency vehicle.
Tetreault's brother says the family is struggling, telling WBZ-TV, "Words can't describe what we're going through."
