Toucher & Rich's Best Bits Of 2012
As 2012 comes to an end Toucher & Rich look back at the year that was and relive some of the best moments.
One moment came out of the show's trip to Super Bowl XLVI between the New England Patriots and New York Giants.
Toucher & Rich had a little fun with the Giants players while they had the chance at Media Day Tuesday.
They came up with some fake station liners for some players to read.
Rich walked up to players like Kevin Boothe, Travis Beckum and Linval Joseph and asked some real questions, but then asked them to read what he and Fred wrote out.
The players agreed without question and didn't even get suspicious when some it sounded a little off.
Sit back, listen and enjoy.
The next best of moment came at the end of the Red Sox season when the guys sent Adolfo out to help fans remember some of the great moments of the 2012 season.
The Red Sox wrapped up their last game at Fenway Park of the 2012 season and the guys decided to send Adolfo out to help people cherish the memories of this season.
With envelopes in hand filled with different mementos from this season, Adolfo talked to fans about their favorite Red Sox memory of all time. Then Adolfo asked them a trivia question and awarded them one of the many envelopes for correct answers.
So sit back, listen, and remember some of the great moments of the 2012 Red Sox season that you may have forgotten along the way!
This next best of clip was an epic rant from Fred.
The guys were sitting in September thinking about Red Sox fans and how the fans complain at times that the Boston sports media doesn't ask the questions that they want answers to.
Toucher & Rich decided that they would be the voice of the fans and ask the questions that aren't getting asked. The guys contacted the Sox and got a press pass so Rich could attend the Bobby Valentine press conference and ask the manager your question.
The guys got more backlash from some members of the sports media in town than they bargained for and from a question that was really legit.
Some writers didn't care for Rich's line of questioning and couldn't believe that he asked those questions to start the press conference off.
Fred goes on an epic rant about how he can't believe that some took issue with these questions.
On Wednesday the guys continued to go through some more of the best clips from 2012. This clip featured a game involving 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' which was one of the biggest books of the year.
There has been a lot of talk about the book 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' a work of erotic fiction.
USA Today has described the book as mom porn. Fred, on the other hand, said it is "written at a second grade level."
T&R decided to grab a few excerpts from the actual book and enlisted the help of Gary Tanguay and his lovely pipes for a game.
Your job in this one is to guess whether the scene Tanguay reads is from the book 'Fifty Shades of Grey' or a work of his own fantasy.
The next clip on the list came from one of Adolfo's chats with a friend that he once met in the Fens.
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski bared all for ESPN's annual "Body Issue," and he appears on one of the covers with only a little logo covering his junk.
Toucher & Rich discussed why a magazine aimed at men has a feature issue involving nude male athletes. T&R came up with an idea of putting together their own "Body Issue" involving members of the Boston Sports Lodge.
So the guys sent Adolfo out to get some thoughts on members of the lodge from the public. With pictures of Michael Felger, Jon Wallach and John Dennis in hand Adolfo hit up the Back Bay Fens for opinions. Adolfo ran into someone that he's talked to in the past and got his thoughts on the three guys.
This next best of moment takes us back to the days before Fenway Park's 100th Anniversary Celebration.
The Red Sox put 100 green balloons all around Boston to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park and encouraged fans to seek them out.
Inside every balloon were tickets to an upcoming Sox game, and a few of them held tickets to the 100th anniversary game on Friday against the Yankees.
Toucher & Rich decided that they would send Adolfo out around Fenway with some balloons filled with prizes, some of which they found on the floor of the prize closet at the station.
Fans in the area immediately started following Adolfo around and one fan was very excited to pop a balloon and get his tickets for Friday.
You can imagine his surprise when he received a coupon for soda. Listen and find out what else the guys filled their balloons with...
The next clip featured one of the best segments of Ask A Pink Hat this year.
Adolfo was out around Fenway over the weekend and he ran into a fan who said she's been a fan since she was eight, so one would think that she follows this team pretty close at this point in her life. Well we found that wasn't true once she said who her favorite player is, Padrilda? Oh yes, good old second baseman Padrilda. It seems this quiz won't go well at this point.
1. What is the person called that decides whether a pitch is a ball or a strike?
2. What is a shortstop?
3. What is the name of the manager of the Red Sox?
4. What team does Mike Aviles play for?
5. Name a current catcher for the Red Sox.
How many questions do you think she got right?
The next bit had a New Hampshire sports talk radio host giving T&R some advice about how to do their job.
Rich went to Bobby Valentine's pregame press conference to ask the manager a question from the listeners.
It all seemed fairly harmless, but many writers didn't care for it. So they wrote their stories, which in turn led Fred Toucher on one of his all-time rants on the "Boston Sports Lodge."
But it didn't end there.
WGAM's –ESPN Radio in New Hampshire — Matt Perrault took offense to what T&R were saying about Gordon Edes, and went on a rant of his own. He called Toucher and Rich a couple of yahoos — very good yahoos — but let them have it for taking on Gordon.
The last clip on the list came from another of Adolfo's chats with a friend that he once met in the Fens.
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski bared all for ESPN's annual "Body Issue," and he appears on one of the covers with only a little logo covering his junk. Toucher & Rich discussed why a magazine aimed at men has a feature issue involving nude male athletes.
T&R came up with an idea of putting together their own "Body Issue" involving members of the "Boston Sports Lodge." So the guys sent Adolfo out to get some thoughts on members of the lodge from the public.
With pictures of Gary Tanguay, Dale Arnold and Andy Gresh in hand this time, Adolfo found our friend from the Back Bay Fens to get his thoughts on this group of…hunks.
Things get weird, so listen at your own risk…
