Toucher & Rich With Jeff Howe: Did The Pats Make Moss An Offer?
BOSTON (CBS) - NESN's Patriots beat writer Jeff Howe spoke with Toucher & Rich Tuesday about the rumor that the Patriots made an offer to Randy Moss.
ESPN's Chris Carter, who is a friend of Moss, hinted Monday that the Pats offered Moss a 1-year contract.
Was this Carter's attempt to market his friend and make it seem like some team offered him money?
"I think there is probably some truth to that because I don't see any reason for Chris Carter to come out and lie about the situation," Howe said.
"It doesn't make a whole lot of sense for the Patriots to want Randy Moss to come back. Then on the other side, if Randy Moss really wanted to come back, why is he demanding this 3-year deal that Chris Carter was speaking about and turn down the 1-year deal?"
When fans heard that Albert Haynesworth was coming to New England, there was immediate concern that he would show up out of shape and not perform.
"Well on the field he can fit in as well as any player in the league," said Howe.
"He was really the most dominate player in football for 2 years not that long ago and there's no reason for me to believe that he can't get back to that point."
