Toucher & Rich With Chris Gasper: Where Was Ochocinco?
Tom Brady's great performance led the Patriots to a 38-24 win over the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
Chris Gasper of the Boston Globe spoke with Toucher & Rich about Brady's 517 yards passing, Chad Ochocinco, Miami's running game and Patriots injuries.
In the preseason people were worried that Ochocinco would not be able to get this Patriots offense. Does the lack of anything from him last night mean anything? Is he not smart enough for this offense?
"I don't think we're at the point where we can say that he's just not smart enough, but I think it's pretty clear that he was not a big part of that game plan. I think a big part is that I don't think at this particular point he's grasped the offense. It's totally different from what he was doing in Cincinnati with the numbers based system, there's a lot of improvisation," were Gasper's thoughts on Ochocinco's lack of contribution in the game.
The guys went on to discuss Devin McCourty and the trouble he seemed to have handling Brandon Marshall. Will teams with bigger receivers come out and challenge McCourty more than they would someone like Darrelle Revis?
The guys also talked about Miami's running game. After the first drive it seemed to disappear unless your name was Chad Henne. Is that more an issue with Reggie Bush or this new revamped Patriots defensive line?
Rookie Nate Solder made his regular season debut in a position he had never played and had a lot of success. The guys talked about his success at right tackle and how he held up against Cameron Wake.
That plus so much more with Chris Gasper of the Boston Globe.
