Toucher & Rich: Top Ten Most Hated People In Sports
BOSTON (CBS) - Forbes released their list of the "Top 10 Most Disliked People In Sports" and Boston fans can relate to a couple of them.
Manny Ramirez and Randy Moss both had troubled exits from their local teams and find themselves fifth and tenth, respectively, on the list.
Ramirez was traded by the Red Sox to the L.A. Dodgers at the trade deadline in 2008 after a tumultuous summer. A fight in the dugout with teammate Kevin Youkilis was caught on camera during a broadcast, and Ramirez had an altercation with the team's traveling secretary Jack McCormick over tickets to an away game. Ramirez pushed McCormick to the ground, and was later fined by the team. Nationally, Ramirez is often criticized for his lack of hustle and desire in games. He was also suspended for 50-games while a member of the Dodgers in 2009 for violating MLB's Performance Enhancing drug policy.
Moss' exit from the Patriots was just as dramatic. After the team's week one 38-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Moss stated he felt "hurt" after not receiving a contract extension. After going without a catch in a week four win against the Dolphins, Moss was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. After a 28-18 loss to his former team in Foxboro, Moss took the Gillette podium once again and stated how much he missed his old team and criticized the Vikings play-calling. He was released by Minnesota the next day and later signed with the Tennessee Titans.
