Toucher & Rich: SI's Ian Thomsen On NBA Draft
BOSTON (CBS) - With the NBA Draft tonight, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich invited Sports Illustrated's Ian Thomsen on to break it all down.
The Celtics hold the 21st and 22nd pick in the first round, and are primed to add some youth to their aging roster.
Nearly all of the mock drafts have Boston taking two big-men. Is that the route they should go?
"The guy that I really think is interesting is Andrew Nicholson, a senior from St. Bonaventure. He can shoot from the outside and rebound. I think for a coach like Doc rivers, who loves skill in big-man, that's a great thing for them to have. A guy like that they can build and maybe learn to play alongside Kevin Garnett. Maybe be able to do some things that Kevin did.
One name that has been thrown around is Syracuse's Fab Melo. Is Doc Rivers just the man to coach the talented, but troubled, center?
"I don't see him being a Celtic," said Thomsen, noting his lack of rebounding and suspension from the NCAA tournament. "Look how easy it is to stay eligible for NCAA basketball. He couldn't even do that. What's the definition of character player? All he had to do was the bare minimum to stay on the team and he couldn't even do that."
What else is going on around the NBA? Will Dwight Howard land in Houston?
And what does Thomsen think about Ray Allen's future? Will he land back with the Celtics or take his talents to South Beach?
