Toucher & Rich: Rosevelt Colvin On Brady's Record Setting Performance
The Patriots went into Miami and walked away with a 38-24 win over the Dolphins. Tom Brady went 32 for 48 and threw for a team-record 517 yards and four touchdowns. Wes Welker set a Patriots record with a 99-yard touchdown after the Patriots defense stopped the Miami Dolphins on the one-foot line.
Former Patriots linebacker Rosevelt Colvin spoke with Toucher & Rich about New England's big win in Miami, Brady's great performance and Chad Henne's performance.
Was last night's game poorly coached by Miami?
"I don't think it was a poorly coached game. I think if you looked around the league a lot of the scores were high scoring games. You can attribute some of that to the lockout just because defenses can't be as complex just because you don't have as much time, if you have a veteran defense then you can," were Colvin's thoughts on how Miami coached the game.
Brady went with the no huddle offense for most of the game and kept the Miami defense on their heels, kept them from substituting players and did not let them rest. As a defensive player how frustrating is it when you don't get a few seconds to get it together?
"There are definitely situations where if you get a quarterback that knows that you're on your heels or a quarterback knows a defensive coordinator is incompetent, so to speak, that can't either figure out that he needs to call a time out or that they have not practiced or that they have not planned a way to get a stoppage in play, like a guy saying I'm cramping. Then you are going to see what Tom did," said Colvin about the hurry up offense.
