Toucher & Rich: Michael Lombardi On Haynesworth, Ochocinco
Patriots fans got the news yesterday when they found out early in the morning that the team had traded for defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth. Then, later in the day, the Pats made another trade for wide receiver Chad Ochocinco.
Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network spoke with Toucher & Rich Friday about the moves made by the Patriots.
If Ochocinco were a free agent this year where would he be ranked among the available wide receivers?
"Obviously free agency is always about the age, how much potential do you have in terms of dollars and how much longer in a career you can go. I think Chad would probably be down at 4th or 5th of the guys that would come off the board first," Lombardi said.
The guys then moved on to discuss Haynesworth. What can he possibly give New England?
"Make no mistake about this, Albert Haynesworth is a top 5 player in the league when Albert Haynesworth wants to play," Lombardi said.
They went on to talk about where Nnamdi Asomugha could end up.
Are the Jets in the running?
If they don't get Asomugha what is their fall back plan?
